Trust is the most important part of any relationship and therefore even more important when it comes to a Romantic Relationship. You need to 100% trust that the person you love loves you back and will never do anything intentionally to harm or hurt you. You need to trust that the person will never betray or cheat you.
There are different kinds of Romantic Relationships. Different in what role SEX plays in the relationship and how often you meet the other person and what level of commitment you have agreed or not agreed on. I think different kinds of Romantic Relationships can be healthy and good depending on where you are in your life and what you need right now. Most importantly though is that no matter what kind of relationship you are in that you and your partner are on the same page and want the same from the relationship, otherwise it will eventually go wrong and some one will get hurt.
I have always wanted to find The One and be part of a truly deeply madly Romantic Relationship and I have found myself in such a relationship a few times in my life. How ever it takes a great level of maturity to be really ready for such a relationship so more often I have been in a Romantic Relationship that I knew was not going to last for many years, but its convenient and I learned a lot from all my past relationships.
The TRUE Jewel is the love one encounters in Titanic, Romeo and Juliet, The Notebook, Brokeback Mountain etc. These stories all have sad endings though - so I prefer the ending in Lord of the Rings - Aragorn and Arwen.

The great thing about this fairy tale is that they end up being the King and the Queen and live happily ever after! And thats my ultimate dream when it comes to a Romantic Relationship. That I will be the King and she will be the Queen, we will get married, have children and live happily ever after.
The Romantic Relationship between Aragorn and Arwen also has two other key components: Patience and Honesty. True love is patient because it knows the deepest layers and truths about another person and believes in the best potential of the other person. And can therefore see beyond the weakness and fault of the present and can also grow to love those imperfections.
Honesty is the second most important principle in a Romantic Relationship. The free and unhindered honest communication is vital for a strong and deep connection to any person and even more to the one who holds your heart. The effortless and confident use of honesty when dealing with all aspects of a Romantic Relationship is based on Trust.
So the order is: Trust > Honesty > Patience > ? - And sacrifice > I think if you feel True Love you are ready to sacrifice everything and no one and nothing will stand in the way between you and your LOVE. It can be hard to discern between this and mindless infatuation though - since mindless infatuation will act the same way. In order to know if its one or the other you have to look at the whole Romantic Relationship to see if its overall healthy and constructive.
Its not going to be all easy-piecy though. I think Romantic Relationships also take hard work at different times. The strength of your love will be tested many times and every time, you and your partner must overcome the challenge in order for the Romantic Relationship to survive. Every victory will make it stronger and protect it more from future obstacles.
It takes love, passion, dedication, will and determination to form a Romantic Relationship that can last for a lifetime. In this postmodern and fragmented time we live in I still believe in that kind of LOVE and I know I have found it.
